Pokestop check in
Time keeps passing, but as I'm in Europe, and we've just finished having our Slakoth day re-do, let's pretend this is a timely virtual community-day chat post ...
Hi! How's it been going? We've had Adventure Week, two Go-fest weekends, a Community Day, a summer-session of raid dinner hours, Raiku raid day, and new Special Research released since the last one - how's that all been treating you?

November's Community Day, aka Cyndaquil Day, has been and gone, so time for a general chat - how's the world of PoGo been treating you this month? Did you have any luck with the Gengar raids? Snagged a Deoxys? Enjoyed the Halloween event (and bonus research)?

August community conversation post
So, somehow another month has passed, and we're in the middle of the first two-day Community day weekend. I hope Eevee is being good to you.
How's your month on Pokemon Go been going? Did you track down a Spinda, get lucky in trading, or find yourself surrounded by legendary birds?

Community day conversation post
Hi folks - it's July's community day, and I hope Squirtle is treating you all well.
It's been a busy month in-game with multiple events and specials going on, plus the launch of trading and gifting. How's that all working out for you? Did you get lucky with an awesome shiny over the weekend? Something cool from an Alolan egg? (Thank you all for the awesome long-distance eggs!)

Happy March community day!
It's been another month, with today's Bulbasaur Community Day, the ongoing Eggstravaganza, Lugia returning to 5* raids, introducing the first shiny legendary, and Rayquaza "winning" the elemental legendaries challenge, triggering a Double XP event , which have all overlapped in various ways.
So, how's your Pokemon Go experience going?

February's Community Day, and new legendaries, and pokemon!
February's Community Day will be Feb 24th, and the Pokemon of the day will be Dratini. Oh boy am I hoping the rumours that being the featured Pokemon means a shiny variant as well as the event-specific moveset!
But first! Rayquaza is rotating in as a legendary raid boss (Feb 9th to March 16th - Kyogre's sticking around until Feb 16th) and they are releasing a further batch of new Pokemon. From the 9th to the 13th Hoenn region Pokemon will "take over" in the wild (I'm not clear on if that means 100% of spawns will be Hoenn region 'mon, or just more than usual) and Lures will run for 6 hours until the 23rd (which IMO rather undercuts them running for 3 hours on Community Day on the 24th...)
How did January's community day go in your neck of the woods? How are you going with Kyroge and other new critters? Any joy with Ex-raids?

News and general chat
I just saw the news about Pokemon Go Community Days, which seem to be a new monthly event, aimed at bringing players together in real life over something other than raiding, with special event Pokemon-skill combos, bonus XP, and extended lures for a 3-hour window. First one is Jan 20th.
In other news, Groudon in on its way out as a legendary raid boss (ending 1:00 p.m. PST on January 15, 2018) and Kyogre in on its way in, and will be with us until Valentine's Day.
So, how's the Pokemon Go world looking from where you are?

Adventure Week starts later today!
So get out there, stock up on pokeballs, catch some cute little monsters, and then come back here and report back with what you're seeing.

ETA: A nest migration also just occurred so if there was a time to get out & explore, that time is now!

Hello trainers!
Hope your week has been going well and you've been enjoying the influx of new pokemon. While your mod is sad she didn't see any Chansey during the last event, she is laughing at how cute Gen 2 is.
Here are a couple bits that may be of interest:
• Gen 2 brings the addition of two new eeveelutions: espeon and umbreon. As with jolteon, vaporeon, and flareon, you can use the rename trick to get the eeveelution of your choice. In this case, Sakura and Tamao will get you espeon and umbreon, respectively. Remember, the rename trick is guaranteed to work only once, so choose your eevee-to-be-evolved wisely. However, some determined trainers did some research and found another way to get espeon and umbreon without using the rename trick (and thus allowing you to do it multiple times). (read more but also keep this in mind)
• We're getting another in-game event! To celebrate Pokemon Day on February 27, Pikachu will be getting a fancy hat from the afternoon of February 26 until the afternoon of March 6. (more info)

PokeGo News & Updates
Good morning, trainers!
What's going on in your neck of the woods, trainers?
- If Niantic continues to follow their schedule, the next nest change is set to happen later this week. If you have something good at your local nests, better hit them up soon! They might switch to something less than ideal. I say this as someone whose favorite local nest became a caterpie hotbed. Sigh. Maybe it'll become something good.
- It looks like Niantic updated the in-game map. Look around! You might find that there are new pokestops and gyms near you! (source)
- In more somber news, a 60-year-old grandfather was shot and killed by a security guard while playing PokeGo. The guard claims it was in self-defense, but it's hard to imagine the exact circumstances that would necessitate shooting a man through the windshield of his van when he was likely fighting a PokeGo gym. It's an unfortunate reminder that in these uncertain times, every trainer needs to be careful and that not only should they be aware of their surroundings, they also need to be mindful of the impression that they're giving. Take it from someone who's definitely abandoned an early morning gym battle when she saw a security guard in the vicinity. (source)

Latest News Updates & Free-for-All
Hello trainers! I come bearing some news. :)
Any news from your neck of the woods? How's your game playing going, trainers?
- A new update is rolling out for PokeGo. The release notes say that this update will reduce the loading time on Android (thank god!) and fix the Go Plus connectivity issues. Reports are also saying that sound no longer stops when you launch the game. Hopefully this means we can continue listening to podcasts uninterrupted now! The good folks at The Silph Road are currently doing a data mine of the latest update, so hopefully we'll find out if there are any other hidden changes soon. (source)
- Nests have indeed migrated once again. In the last post, people asked what a nest was and I realized, wow! We never explained that properly, did we? So here we go. Nests are basically locations where a certain type of pokemon spawns in increased numbers. The most obvious manifestation of a nest is one where a specific type of pokemon will spawn in a cluster of 2-3 at the same time. But it can be something more subtle where a specific type of pokemon spawns regularly throughout the day at the same location. I have a spot like this outside my neighborhood, for example. Nests are not the same thing as biomes and early in the game, people got them confused. But half a year out, they're pretty clearly delineated. Want to find out if there are nests near you? Check out The Silph Road's nest atlas! This is user generated though, so all caveats apply.
- In a blast from the past: Remember last summer when certain jurisdictions wanted to pass an ordinance requiring that augmented reality games obtain a permit to function in certain parks? They're still at it. Wow. (source)

The State of the PokeGo Trainer
Hello trainers!
It looks like the game has received a minor update, mostly addressing Korean language support. Yes, that's right. PokeGo has officially launched in South Korea! Welcome!
We are also expecting the next nest migration to happen later this week. Be on the lookout!
And since it's been a while, I'd like to have a free chat in the comments. How is your PokeGo playing going, trainers? Noticed any interesting new trends?

Weekend Free-for-All!

Some of us have already bid 2016 adieu. Some of us are still waiting to welcome 2017.
It's been almost 6 months since I started this community. The game has had its ups and it's had its downs, but we are still here, catching these little pocket monsters!
How are y'all doing? Enjoying the event? Braving the cold? Desperately chasing after starter 'mon? Let's chat!
