London got good weather for CD this time - no wind for a weather boost, but sunny-and-not-too-hot - and a strong turn out for my regular park.
Some moderate weirdness in the game - a solid five mins at the begining when there were a ton of pokemon spawned, but none of them were interactable-with (everything else in the game work - I spun a stop and got "catch three beldum" research, but you couldn't click on any pokemon.) and then a higher-than-usual rate of people having issues with lag and needing to reboot, plus a really high rate of non-Beldum spawns. I've done all but two CDs at the same park, and normally the CD pokemon is a good 80% or 90% of the spawns - this time, Id say Beldum was ~maybe~ 50%. I saw 225 in the course of three hours though (I thought to take a before and after screenshot this time so can be accurate) so my catch rate wasn't much impacted.
I also had a bit of a nerve-wracking morning in shiny-hunting news, as it took me nearly two hours to get my first shiny - a whole 10CP one! - but ended up with six overall. All rubbish IV's, but I evolved two up anyway (one to keep, one to trade.) - they are mighty pretty!
Also got to get my trade on for a solid 45 mins. We must have done well over 30 trades, and no luckies amongst them (my trading partner had used ALL the luck by catching a shiny Shinx on his way in, and hatching a shiny Togepi - I guess my luck, too, as that meant I could trade my second shiny Pineco for his shiny Vapreon, and not the originally promised Togepi, without anyone feeling bad (he suggested it, even.)) Shiny Vape is absolute trash, but I care not at all, for she is pretty and purple and mine. Did get my Traders badge up to Silver, though, which is pleasing.
I'm trying so hard to be patient with Gen IV, and only evolve good examples, which mean while I have a set of three starters, I only have Prinplup (and that only because I had an "evolve ten water-types" research as an excuse. I'm close on candy, but short on good examples for Starly's third level evolution, but I have Bidoof and Bibarel, Buneary and Lopunny (so tempted to rename him Jessica...), plus Kricketot and a pair of Shinx (not shiny) Since CD, though, gen IV spawns have been very low for me - I saw three Bidoof today, and nothing else at all, although quite the variety of older 'mon.
I did have fun playing with my 6 and 8 y/old niblets last week, even if they do live in a village with all of two pokestops and a gym, so they were cheerfully throwing my cache of ultra balls at random trash, but really *really* cheerfully. I had been saving incense for the occasion, and absolutely got my money's worth out of them. (S-the-elder nabbed me a shiny drowsee in the closing hours of that event, too) Gen IV launched while I was on the train home, so my one sentimental Gen IV 'mon so far is Bidoof the Ist, the sole Gen IV brought by my franticly deployed final incense while changing trains in Lille in an attempt to get some French 'mon. (I also failed to see and Skitty's all trip: they just look *so* French I was kinda hoping.)
i caught six shinies! and i evolved one to a metagross with meteor mash and one to a metang! and i was only out for an hour! and i hatched a shinx and so was already able to evolve it to luxio! AND a few nights ago i tore out in my p.j.s and drove down the street to catch a lunatone!
I had a good time! I was actually up in PDX this weekend, and decided to stay in town through the event instead of driving a couple of hours. I caught five shinies (two more than I got on Chikorita day!) and evolved one to a Metang and one to a Metagross. I also evolved two more Metagross with good stats.
I actually bumped into two Portland friends while I was wandering, and after the event I traded some monsters--I gave someone an Alolan Sandshrew that I got from an egg lilacsigil gave me, and got a shiny Machop in return!
In hindsight, I think I had more fun in downtown Eugene. Though I may have had more fun if I'd actually gone all the way downtown PDX, as the park I was wandering around, while it had an abundance of pokestops, wasn't heavily populated and didn't have any raids happening. But I didn't really suffer any network troubles, except for a bit of a hiccough when the event ended, but no harm done. I'm looking forward to the next one and curious what it's going to be!
I've been drifting away from pokemon go, despite never getting close to metagross I forgot all about community day till afterwards. But we went to catch gen 4s, and I got several new species.
We were lucky enough to have windy weather for boosted Beldum during CD, but my shiny luck started out really bad. Despite playing the entire time, I only had two mediocre shinies to show, until literally 5 minutes before the event ended I caught a Lv34 shiny with 13 attack IV, so that one got evolved immediately! Did a bunch of trading later on and while most of them weren't good, I finally got a lucky with 98% IV (15-14-15), so that's pretty dang awesome too.
And as if to make up for my low CD shiny count this time around, I also recently stumbled onto a shiny female Nidoran *and* a shiny Snubbull. But then, tragedy struck! I actually saw a shiny Murkrow, but I had my Go Plus running at the time, and it threw and missed before I could stop it. D: Still, can't complain too much with those others recently.
98% lucky and weather boost - that is some good fortune! The shiny luck giveth and the shiny luck taketh away - shiny Murkrow is really high on my wish list, so I would have been really sad if that had happened to me!
