Weekend Free-for-All!

Some of us have already bid 2016 adieu. Some of us are still waiting to welcome 2017.
It's been almost 6 months since I started this community. The game has had its ups and it's had its downs, but we are still here, catching these little pocket monsters!
How are y'all doing? Enjoying the event? Braving the cold? Desperately chasing after starter 'mon? Let's chat!

I was interested to see The Silph Road's research that the babies' evolved forms (and the regional exclusives) are no longer hatching, because I was sure that I hatched an Electabuzz from an egg spun the day after the event began. But I guess either I was mistaken, or Niantic removed the evolved forms from the eggs a little later than adding the babies.
And this week's migration turned the park nearest my home into a clefairy nest, after two migrations of pokemon so locally common that it was difficult to determine which one had become more common with the migration. That's a renewal of excitement!

The latest migration kind of turned my favorite hunting spots into garbage (weedles, pinsirs???) so I'm out for the next couple weeks. Just as well since I doubt I'll have time to hit them up before the next migration anyway.

I got none of the babies so far :(

I would've hatched them when I was out earlier, but I got it into my head to take down a level 8 gym and during that, my battery ran out, so the walk back wasn't counted on my game.
Also two Ekans nests have established themselves in the park I walk in, so I finally have the last of the Pokemon I needed that aren't hatched from 10km eggs or region specific. :D
Aaaand, I caught a Venusaur!

I'm real hopeful to find a few more bulbasaurs. They're so rare here, even well inland.
I hatched a second poor, rubbish Lapras that's almost a twin of my original poor, rubbish Lapras, so at least they're not lonely anymore, I guess! Also finally evolved an Alakazam and an Omastar and a Kabutops, so only Chansey continues to evade me.
Oh! And a dragonite! I was lucky enough to catch one a month or two ago, but now I've evolved one with decent IVs, though I haven't been able to see how it does in action in a gym yet.
Soooorta wish I'd planned to tag along with my dad to Australia or New Zealand this year and engineer some layovers in convenient regional locations on my way back, but I also acknowledge that I don't actually want to have done that :) Tempted to have gifted him a level ten account, maybe ;) I mostly need to not read other people's ridiculous video game travel adventures when I can't be bothered to renew my passport.
I found three separate stories of Pokemon go players rescuing kittens after one was linked on the Silph road reddit this morning, so that was great!
Happy New Year, y'all!

But I've caught a couple of Charmanders over the last few days having previously never seen any in the wild at all, so that made me very happy. I've hatched an Igglybuff and a Cleffa too!

I did catch an eevee with top-appraisal-level stats, though, which is pretty exciting! :x Gotta get more candies to evolve it, though. Oh, and I finally hatched an onix! Haven't hatched any baby pokemon yet though. :(

The weather's been decent enough that I've managed several good long walks this week, so am hatching things at a decent rate. The sudden proliferation of starters has completely wiped out my ball collection, though! Between that, and a serious gym run (I managed to take 7, and be holding 5 simultaneous to cash out, which is a record for me) my supplies are at a low ebb.
I've had pretty good luck hatching babies - I'm only missing a Smoochum (which - I sideeye the character design here, as for Jynx, so if I was going to be mising one, I'm ok that it's this one) but I do have three Togepi, which means that when I retire my Festive Picachu buddy, I should be walking distance from an evolve, even if I don't hatch another.
