Adventure Week Has Ended!

I'd love to hear about your experiences! How did you take advantage of the four times as fast? What rock types did you catch? Did the recent nest migration benefit you?

I walked to evolve to: Jynx, Croconaw, Quilava, Meganium, Marowak, Kingler, Ninetails, and Wartortle.

My rock type catches to evolutions: Golem, Steelix, Rhydon, Omastar, Kabutops, Shuckle, and Magcargo.

I was able to evolve to Alakazam, thanks to my local nest.

And I caught a Yanma!

Recent egg hatches: Gligar! And enough Drowzee for a Hypno.

New Event Starting on Thursday

Hello trainers!

Looks like we'll be getting another in-game event, starting on May 18 @ 1PM PDT: Adventure Week!

The details:
  • more items from pokestop spins

  • 50% off pokeballs in the store

  • buddies will earn candy 4x as fast!

  • increase in Rock-type pokemon encounters -- including possibly, maybe Aerodactyl!!!

A Couple Updates

1. Nests have migrated once again! Check out your local parks to see what species are now roaming there.

2. There will be a short-term in-game event this weekend: Worldwide Bloom! From the afternoon of May 5 until May 8, there will be an influx of grass pokémon.

Hopefully, the weather is kind to you this weekend and you can enjoy these events!

Eggstravaganza Event

Good day, trainers!

Your mod apologizes for the tardiness of this post. She had a car situation to deal with and just didn't get to it yesterday.

From now until 1PM PDT on April 20, Niantic is hosting an in-game Eggstravaganza. The highlights:
  • a greater variety of pokémon can be hatched from 2km eggs

  • more candy is earned with egg hatches

  • double XP

  • Lucky Eggs are half-price in the store -- meaning that you can earn quadruple XP if you strategize!

Valentine's Day Event

Today, Niantic announced that there will be an in-game Valentine's Day event for PokeGo!

During the event:
  • double candy for every catch, hatch, or transfer

  • increased spawns of pink pokemon (will your mod finally get a chansey & lickitung?!)

  • lure modules will last for 6 (!!!) hours

  • the distance required for your buddy to earn candy will be halved

Also, not included in the official announcement but are being reported on The Silph Road subreddit:
  • Eggs have changed! Don't be surprised if you get unexpected hatches (e.g. oddishes from 2km eggs).

  • Increased spawns of porygon. Your mod is confused about this because porygons are not pink...

Holiday Event part 2 is a go!

While one-use incubators should still be dropping from first pokestop spins & our chances of hatching the new baby 'mon should also still be increased, we should now begin seeing more starters around!

In addition, the giftboxes in the store have changed. They are now bronze, silver, and gold. The contents are as follows (info from TSR):
  • Bronze box (460 coins): 100x regular balls + 8x lure

  • Silver box (980 coins): 8x incense + 8x lucky egg + 8x lure

  • Gold box (2480 coins): 50x great balls + 25x incense + 25x lucky egg + 16x lure

All I can say is: DAMN. Hope you have the bag space!

Holiday Event is now live!

You should be seeing an increase in Santachus and your first pokestop spin of the day should drop one single-use incubator. Watch out: it is blue -- same as the 3-use incubators.

Unfortunately, if you have already spun your first pokestop of the day, you will not get an incubator. Sorry, guys. :(

(I can confirm that first pokestop spin does drop an incubator as I got one.)

In addition, Niantic has made 3 giftboxes available for purchase in the shop. They break down as follows:
- 250: 10 greatballs & 2 3-use incubators
- 550: 20 greatballs, 2 incense & 4 3-use incubators
- 1500: 25 20 ultraballs, 25 incense & 6 3-use incubators

If you only care about incubators (given the nature of this event), the 250 giftbox gives you the best deal. Again, that's only if you care about incubators and not about balls and incense.

The REAL Holiday Event is Here!

Rumors about a true holiday event have been circulating since the addition of the Gen 2 baby pokémon. Now we have the full details.

1. From December 25 until January 3 (PST), pokestops will award one single-use incubator after your first photodisc spin of the day. There will also be a greater chance of hatching the newer baby pokémon!

2. From December 30 until January 8 (PST), we'll have a greater chance of encountering the starter Pokémon (and their evolutions). In addition, lure modules will last for 60 minutes instead of the regular 30!

  • PokeGo is now on the Apple Watch. (source)

  • The recently held Lapras event in Japan raised $207 million for the town of Ishinomaki, which was hard hit by the 2011 tsunami. Which is great! But kind of terrifying to see the power this game has. (source)

Santachu Easter Egg!

It's a very small Easter Egg but I'm not gonna lie. I've been laughing my head off the past 5 minutes.

1. Make sure Battery Saver is turned on.
2. Select a Santa Pikachu from your inventory.
3. Turn your phone upside down. (So the screen goes into battery saver mode.)
4. Wait a few seconds.
5. Turn your phone back over.
6. Look at Santa Pikachu.
7. :D

The Holiday Event!

Niantic just announced the addition of more pokémon!
Professor Willow has discovered Togepi and Pichu hatching from Eggs! Starting later today, Trainers will have the opportunity to hatch these and several other Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto Region in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games.

Trainers who play(ed) the main series, what other pokémon do we have to look forward to? Based on the wording, we'll be able to hatch more than just Togepi & Pichu.

ETA: Cleffa, Elekid, Magby & Igglypuff are confirmed! And if you get one of the new baby pokemon, make it your buddy & check out the ADORABLE.

In addition:
Starting later today through December 29, 2016, 10:00 A.M. PST, you’ll find limited edition Pikachu all over the world. These Pikachu will be wearing a festive hat to celebrate the season!

OMIGOD.

ETA: Raichu also wears the santa hat!

But with it getting chilly and downright wintery in certain parts of the world, this is all going to be very tricky!

New Event Coming Up

Anyway! I wanted to let everyone know about Niantic's next PokeGo event. From November 23 at 00:00 UTC until November 30 at 00:00 UTC, you will receive double the XP and double the stardust.

PokeGo's First In-game Event!

Look alive, we'll be having our first in-game event from October 26 - November 1! It is, as you can probably guess, Halloween-themed.
  • Increased chances of encountering "spooky" pokémon: drowzee, hypno, gastly, haunter, gengar, zubat, and golbat.

  • Double the amount of candy for catching, hatching & transferring pokémon. So you get 2 candy when you send a mon to Professor Willow & 6 (!!) when you catch them.

  • And the big one: you get four candies instead of one when walking your buddy!

ETA on 10/25/16: Silph Road members, based on Ingress events, are saying that the event runs on UTC time!
