I know we've got that pinned post for friend code exchange based on location already, but I figured it couldn't hurt to have a reminder now that we've got Vivillon forms to collect as well! And if people want to swap friend codes based on Vivillon forms in the comments here, I don't think that would be a problem?

Edit: Mod has given the go-ahead, for anyone who might have been worried!

If you're struggling with the current Hoenn Collection Challenge, you're not alone! The good news is that Sunday's Mareep Incense Day should help us all fill in those last blanks. Read Niantic's Mareep Day post.

On Sunday, "[i]n addition to Mareep, different Pokémon will be attracted to Incense at different times." Here's the schedule:
  • 11:00am - 1:00pm: Electric-type Pokémon [including Plusle & Minun]
  • 1:00pm - 2:00pm: Dragon-type Pokémon and Pokémon that evolve into Dragon-type Pokémon [including Bagon]
  • 2:00pm - 4:00pm: Electric-type Pokémon [including Plusle & Minun]
  • 4:00pm - 5:00pm: Dragon-type Pokémon and Pokémon that evolve into Dragon-type Pokémon [including Bagon]
Important: "An event-exclusive 1 PokéCoin bundle featuring 3 Incense will also be available to pick up in the shop."

Outside Mareep Incense Day, during this Hoenn event, we can hatch Bagon from 5km eggs and catch them in T1 raids, while Plusle and Minun are available only from the "Catch 11 Pokémon" research task from spinning stops. (Well, and natural wild spawns, which are not boosted.) The rest of the collection targets should be easier to catch wherever you are, as natural, incense, or lure spawns.

BTW, if you don't yet have a Metagross with Meteor Mash, try to evolve one before the event ends. They are very useful in raids, Master League, and Ultra League. And if you don't already have a Swampert for every league, stock up on Mudkip; Swampert are versatile and reliable in every niche of the game. Read Niantic's Hoenn Event post.

Have fun!

Anyone know if there's a distance limit to inviting people to raids?

Followup question: If there's not a distance limit, anyone interested in organizing raids for the Lake Trio (Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie) so folks can get whichever ones they're not in the region for?

Edit: Sounds like there's probably no distance limit on raid invites, so: Anyone want in on an Azelf raid over the next couple of days? Drop a comment with a good time to recruit you and your time zone, and I'll see what I can do!

Source (and also via my local PoGo Discord channel, PoGo itself, and I'm expecting an email any time now...)

Trainers,

As a limited-time test, from Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. until Monday, November 16, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. PST (GMT −8), trade range will be increased! Depending on information gathered from this test, we may include increased trade range as a part of future events.

It’s time to trade, Trainers!

Which means it's live now!

I know I've got more than a few overseas lucky friends; feel free to use this post to try and set up trades!

Edit: Guess who misinterpreted the number 😅 It's still way better than 100m, though.

I'm not sure whether I should keep it as a Pidgey, power it up, and magikarp gyms that botters hang at, or evolve it up.

What's your worst 100iv catch? Or your worst ever. I got a 0iv Totodile once; that was sad.

Wild catches both, total luck of the draw.

Here, Pidgey... )

Egg Change

Eggs have changed again – multiple species added (includes Gen II starters)!

Generation II Egg Chart

I'm quite pleased. So happy that Mantines and Pinecos are in 5 km eggs now. It was awfully frustrating to walk a 10 km egg and get a freakin' Mantine. Also really glad Swinubs are in 5 kms and Chinchous in 10 kms. I got my first Chinchou today! And I need Swinubs for ice medals and candy for the eventual Mamoswine evolution.

I'm at level 28 now!

I'd love to hear about your experiences! How did you take advantage of the four times as fast? What rock types did you catch? Did the recent nest migration benefit you?

I walked to evolve to: Jynx, Croconaw, Quilava, Meganium, Marowak, Kingler, Ninetails, and Wartortle.

My rock type catches to evolutions: Golem, Steelix, Rhydon, Omastar, Kabutops, Shuckle, and Magcargo.

I was able to evolve to Alakazam, thanks to my local nest.

And I caught a Yanma!

Recent egg hatches: Gligar! And enough Drowzee for a Hypno.

So I got my 7 day streak again today, and I still haven't been able to snag the Evolution Item I need. I've got 3 Sun Stones, 3 King's Rocks and 2 Up-Grades, but not enough candy to evolve the corresponding Pokemons. Yet I have a Scyther, all ready to go, and no Metal Coat!

Look alive! The third nest migration is here. But this nest migration is a little different from the past two...

• In addition to nests changing, new nests have appeared.

• Unfortunately, some nests have also disappeared.

• Higher evolutions can now be found at nests! Previously, only base evolutions could be found at nests. So now, you might find Wigglytuff at a Jigglypuff nest, for example.

• There are also new spawning locations. My neighborhood added 4-5!

• But...some spawning locations have also vanished.

• Spawning times have also changed. If you're used to mon spawning at certain times, you might need to readjust. I know I'm having to figure out the new schedule in my neighborhood!

What are things looking like around you?

So, some of you might have seen discussions about using incense in areas with zero potential spawn points, with the result of random pokemon appearing, including pokemon that you might not normally see. If you haven't seen that, take a look here: PokemonGo Hub post and Reddit post on required distances.

tl;dr: you need to be 1km from a potential spawn point in order for random spawn effect with incense. Do give the reddit post a look; I found it really interesting.

Has anyone here tried it out? How did it go?

I usually don't use my incense immediately, so I had three saved up to use for testing. It went pretty well. :D

So I started with Squirtle (... as always), hatched a Charmander in fairly short order then found a place Charmanders like hanging out near work, and last week hatched a Pikachu from a 2km egg.

... Bulbasaur is my second-favourite starter Pokemon and is missing from that list, about which I was very frustrated -- except I'm visiting a friend this week and SAW MY FIRST BULBASAUR just outside their house.

... whereupon I fed it a Razz Berry and threw an Ultra Ball at it and it ran away.

... the second one that appeared in the same spot did a similar thing.

... by the time the third one appeared in the same spot I decided I was probably camped on top of a Bulbasaur spawn point, and so far I have caught four and had another two run away from me, and firmly intend to spend the rest of the week saving up. :D
