Niantic just announced the addition of more pokémon!

Professor Willow has discovered Togepi and Pichu hatching from Eggs! Starting later today, Trainers will have the opportunity to hatch these and several other Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto Region in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games.

Trainers who play(ed) the main series, what other pokémon do we have to look forward to? Based on the wording, we'll be able to hatch more than just Togepi & Pichu.

ETA: Cleffa, Elekid, Magby & Igglypuff are confirmed! And if you get one of the new baby pokemon, make it your buddy & check out the ADORABLE.

In addition:

Starting later today through December 29, 2016, 10:00 A.M. PST, you’ll find limited edition Pikachu all over the world. These Pikachu will be wearing a festive hat to celebrate the season!

OMIGOD.

ETA: Raichu also wears the santa hat!

But with it getting chilly and downright wintery in certain parts of the world, this is all going to be very tricky!

Oh my gosh... I'm so looking forward to this. Hopefully the weather will cooperate long enough for me to get one of those limited Pikachus - last week it was too cold to go outside, even when one is properly dressed.

Re: Gold and Silver, not terribly familiar with that gen, but I do know that I looove Cyndaquil. They're adorable. I want one so bad. :D So hopefully that will be one of the ones added to GO.

I read that because the new mon are coming from egg hatching specifically, the new additions are going to be baby pokemon! Which OMIGOSH. SO CUTE.

It's neat that they'd roll them out through hatching, rather than just having them pop up in the same way that everything else does.

Off the top of my head Gen 2 babies include Clefa (Clefairy baby), Igglybuff (Jigglypuff baby), a baby Pokémon for Jynx (forget the name) and Magby (Magmar baby) and I think a baby Pokémon for Electabuzz. Maybe Mime Jr for Mr Mime too but that raises the question of is it region limited? I think Gen two also has a baby type for the Hitmons.

I might be wrong on some of the above, but that's from memory.

I double checked and my memory list is right except for Mime Jr which was not a Gen II pokemon.

Well, I've had a day full of adorableness even if I haven't hatched any little bitty Pokemon yet - found a Santa pikachu, this afternoon, and hatched a Porygon out of my last pre-event 5k egg tonight!

Excited to see what pops up next, wheeeee!

I got the update this morning, and 10m from home met the cute Santa Pikachu. And I caught another one on the way home from work. Yay!

Festive PIkachu is so cute (and everyone clearly agrees because I keep seeing them on gyms, even though they're clearly too low CP to last there ;) ) - am I reading that right, that if you evolve one you get a festive Raichu? Because that would be a goal....
