- I got into PokeGo because... A bunch of my friends started playing. They had played the previous games, but my main exposure to the franchise was a few episodes of the anime. But everyone was talking about it, so I figured I should give it a try and see what all the fuss was about. Ironically, it appealed to my love of physical activity and exploring new places.

- other fandoms: I mostly run around in the anime & manga fandoms. Currently, I'm into Thunderbolt Fantasy (it's a wuxia puppet show), Gangsta, and sports series -- I'm looking forward to Haikyuu's third season next month and I am basketball trash (Kuroko's Basketball) forever.
- other interests: Yoga, gardening, cooking, and discovering new hole-in-the-wall places that serve delicious food. I also love reading, although I'm in a bit of a reading slump at the moment. And, of course, writing! I'm currently a freelance writer. In terms of stuff I can talk about, I contribute to sites like Women Write about Comics and MyAnimeList. I was also a regular contributor to Panels but now that the site has shut its doors, I'm joining the crew at Bookriot. And I review books at Foreword Reviews.
- contents of my journal: A mix of everything -- real life, fandom, and everything in between. It's not as active as it once was and I'm working to change that.

- I got into PokeGo because... Pokemon was a thing I got into as a teenager and I just love the idea of catching them in real life instead of just in the video game. I'm having a harder time focusing on the games released on the handhelds, but Pokemon Go requires less time focus.

- contents of my journal: right now I'm going through a hard time, so angst is often, but I'm trying to post more positive content. Most of the positive content seems to be about Pokemon Go lately. There's stuff about work, occasional posts of my writing when I actually get something written and want to share it rambling about books I'm reading. I hope to get back to writing more at some point. Been hanging out on tumblr a lot. Lately it just feels kinda pointless to write on DW since I lost a lot of friends due to my own stupid.

Wow, Poke-hunting in the East Bay would be grand! I used to live there and nearby (Berkeley, Alameda, Martinez, Pleasanton at various times) from 1976 until about ten years ago, and I still miss it enormously. Your writing about playing PokeGo there has me thinking about when I can visit a friend down there and see what new things I can catch.

You should totally come. I especially recommend Lake Merritt in Oakland for water Pokémon, but also just how beautiful it is -- they've done so much with the walk around the lake (there's literally only one spot that's shitty).

- I got into PokeGo because... While I'm ambulatory, I have multiple health issues that make walking anywhere from mildly painful to excruciating. But it's really good for me in many ways and it gives me a huge mood boost, so I picked up PokeGo as a way to get myself out there and walk. In combination with my FitBit, it's a remarkably effective motivator.
let me tell you about myself! I'm 58, straight, cis-female, forcibly retired from an IT career over a decade ago by disability (refractory major depressive disorder plus a handful of physical issues). Fannish, friendly, easy-going. I used to write a bit, but antidepressants turn off my ability to write, so it appears that's not going to happen again. Since then I've done a fair amount of podficcing.
- other fandoms: Many! Chiefly due South/C6D, Gateverse, BtVS, HP, and I read and podfic in lots of others.
- other interests: Dogs are my favorite people. Plants make me happy; I want to grow all of them.
- contents of my journal: Lately, not much, mostly RL and health updates on rare occasions. I'd like to start posting again, and I'm hoping this will help motivate me.
