Tuesday Tips: Migration Time!

Look alive! The third nest migration is here. But this nest migration is a little different from the past two...

• In addition to nests changing, new nests have appeared.

• Unfortunately, some nests have also disappeared.

• Higher evolutions can now be found at nests! Previously, only base evolutions could be found at nests. So now, you might find Wigglytuff at a Jigglypuff nest, for example.

• There are also new spawning locations. My neighborhood added 4-5!

• But...some spawning locations have also vanished.

• Spawning times have also changed. If you're used to mon spawning at certain times, you might need to readjust. I know I'm having to figure out the new schedule in my neighborhood!

As of last night there appears to be either a nest or at least a spawn point for charmander in Stanley Park, near the road through - my commute goes through and over the bridge, and I've never seen so many charmander ANYWHERE showing up on my "sightings".

Of course, none of them actually popped up, but.

I'm a little meh about the suddenly nests can spawn evolutions "discovery" because our drowsee nest has always had a few hypnos scattered around, but we also have the odd hypno out in the world in biomes that spawn drowsees around here, so I guess it's just an odd case.

At any rate, I haven't been over to it since early yesterday, so no check to see if it's changed, but I haven't noticed any difference in my 10 or so most-local sightings. But I also haven't been able to run through a full hour either day or night yet! Science!

Haven't noticed spawn point differences yet, but I have noticed the higher evolutions popping up! For someone who only ever got a mon beyond the first evolution since circa Level 25, that is extremely exciting!

Otherwise, I'm grumpy about being outgunned, outmanned, outnumbered in my neighborhood: Everything is blue as the eye can see; Mystic holds all the Gyms around me at Level 10. Can I take each down? Sure! I just don't have the 2 hours that requires, or alternatively a Valor squad -- my Valor friends live quite far away. :(

Man, I sympathize! That's the situation around me. I can take down the gyms although it'd take time and consume lots of resources, but the idea of doing so, only to be toppled over an hour later because I have no squad to level up the gym after me... It's a bit disheartening.

What is a nest?

It's basically a spot where a specific type of mon regularly spawns. The most recognizable, classic nest is a cluster spawn -- where 3-4 mons will spawn around you. So, 3-4 charmander or dratini. The other example is where a place -- like a park -- regularly spawns, say, jigglypuffs throughout. The latter example is tricky because people confuse them with biomes (like dratini spawning in water biomes where you find magikarp, psyducks & slowpokes) but that's the basic idea.

I'm assuming there's no way to tell if you're near a nest, outside of random chance? XD

There's never been a spawn spot in the eastern half of town before, but yesterday an Eevee popped up on my scope there! So now there's four spawn spots in town, which is exciting.

Sadly the spawn spot nearest to my workplace has vanished and it's quite a trek to the next one. Also I'm not sure if it's possible for an entire city to become a Drowzee nest but it certainly feels like we have!

But I'm not going to grumble too much because my place of work is relocating into the city centre at the end of the year, conveniently opposite to one of the most favoured Pokémon hunting parks :)
