Just kidding! The new PokeGo update is now available in all app stores!

The official patch notes:
  • Capture location: The location where a Pokémon was caught will now be displayed on their information screen.

  • Pokémon GO Plus and Incense: Trainers can attempt to capture Pokémon they encounter from using Incense with the Pokémon GO Plus accessory.

  • Fixed a bug that caused some users to get stuck on the loading screen, even after restarting the app.

  • Fixed a bug where the camera sometimes moved at slow speeds during battle.

  • Minor bug fixes

Something they did not mention specifically but probably falls under the category of "bug fixes" is that gym battles have slightly changed. You can now queue one move beyond the one you're currently executing. So for example, if you tap the screen twice, your mon will launch two attacks. If you're used to spam attacking, this is a change because the game now registers your taps and will lock you in place until it's executed all of the moves queued up. If you're used to dodging (as I am), this changes the attack rhythm a little so you will need to adjust. Otherwise, you're going to mess up your dodge timing. It does, however, make the charge attacks easier to launch. If all this doesn't make sense (and it's kind of hard to explain without demonstration), you will see what I mean the next time you battle a gym.

In short: The update penalizes spam attacking and rewards people who attack strategically.

Anyway! How was your week in PokeGo, trainers?

I had a very Pokemon-Go focussed mini break, visiting my 8y/o nephew at the other end of the country, which was fruitful for new-to-me Pokemon for both of us - he had promised me Eevees, and the area didn't disappoint (not quite enough for a new evolve, but enough to really power up my Jolteon + a couple of good Eevees to work up to evolving) - and having an extra adult in the rotation to keep going for walks helped him catch his first Growlith (and we *saw* a Blastoise, but couldn't find it in time). I also got to show him how to use power moves in gyms, so when I left he had defenders on 4, which beats my record! (Sadly we're on different teams and didn't find any third-faction gyms we could team up to attack together.) I hatched a couple of 10k eggs, and have added a Chansey and a Lickitongue (now called Alickxander, short for AlickxanderTheGreat which wouldn't fit!)to my pokedex, and hit level 26 somewhere in the whole thing!
