Kanto Region...again?
I do kind of feel like a Kanto revisit is a low-effort Niantic activity, but at least they're bringing Keldeo back. I kind of like Keldo. And the quest is easy.
Though I won't be making 50 by October. And I've heard from the SilphRoad folks that the XP timed research track only gives 7mil XP so that won't make much of a dent in anything at this level.
I almost hope I have a reason to stop playing sometimes, except it does get me motivated to get out and walking.

I am kind of excited to see if I can get more of them that I don't have, though.

Kanto and Johto, but I'm doomed on the rest.

*ahem*
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Manaphy.
Manaphy who?
Man, I feel like there's still some Pokémon missing from the 'dex in Go!

I missed the Hoenn event and I feel like I'll never get Relicanth. ARGH. It's my one Hoenn that I'm missing.

Alas, PoGo is one of the few ways I socialize in brick space these days, since I dropped the convention I volunteered at over Covid concerns. (And also con higher-ups making decisions about it without informing the con staff as a whole, but I'm not still bitter about that at all! /lying) At least I managed to drop Pikmin Bloom in a hurry.

And, yes, me too: the more I play this game, the more I walk, by leaps and bounds. I'm walking less and less since I switched most of my gaming time to a console this summer, and that can't be good... yet it's the game itself that tells me this is happening, when there isn't an egg-from-walking in my weekly bonus haul.

A console is a pretty terrible option for me, I'd walk even less! And I have a hard time walking in bad weather - and the game doesn't pick up steps on a treadmill easily at all.

Yep, the first time Keldeo came around GO, in '22, it was a paid ticket exclusive research only. I didn't realize it would be 3 years before the free opportunity, because previously mythicals had been released free only a handful of months after such paywalled events.
(FWIW, during lockdown, I learned that putting my Android phone in a loose bag and safety-pinning that bag to my pants calf, such that it hit my calf each time, caused it to register a fair number of "steps" while I rode my stationary bike. I don't know whether that translates to a treadmill, but I thought I'd share it, just in case it does.)

Kanto is one of those "it's been long enough, and we have enough new signups, we should let them get the classic mons" kind of events. It'll be nice to go along with it, but it's very much a "hi, new people" event.

The XP research is a ridiculous amount of effort for that amount of XP. I've only gotten to page 13 so far myself, but looked at leekduck, and by page 34 it's tasks like over 20km walking and 80 excellents etc. Having gotten to 50 over a year ago I don't need XP for that, but I like completing research only there's no realistic way I'll average a page per day with tasks like that, as I'm not doing marathons.

I'm still sufficiently engaged in the core game loop (go for a walk, collect cute animals) that I don't think I'm going anywhere, though
