Android Update (+ now iOS too!)

No word yet on whether there's a similar update on iOS. Edit @ 7:40pm edt: iOS update is now live as well. Thanks for the heads up, yuuago!

The update includes:

• adjustments of the damage caused by certain battle moves


• the pokémon detail screen now has a menu so you can't accidentally transfer that high CP pokémon! (not speaking from experience or anything...)


• the images for some achievement medals have changed


• they removed the pawprints from the pokémon tracker (note: the actual three-step bug is not fixed!)


• you can now recustomize your avatar via the profile screen, so if you ended up wearing yellow despite being on Team Mystic, now's your chance to fix that if it's been bothering you!

Will update this post if I hear word of an update on iOS. (I'm on Android so if you're an iPhone user, I'd appreciate a heads up!)

OKAY, so before I go to sleep at night, I read a few Wikipedia pages on my phone. I dunno why, it's just a weird habit I picked up. But the last update left it incredibly buggy and prone to crashing if I scrolled too fast, so I had to read it in Safari LIKE A PLEB.

I must say, I like the revision to the pokemon detail screen; I haven't accidentally transferred anything that I wanted to keep, but the previous screen was a bit buggy for me.

...After installing the update + opening it for the first time, it gave me a warning after the "be aware of your surroundings" screen:

Do not play Pokemon GO while driving.

Oh my. Kind of crazy that this would need an actual in-game warning, but... I'm not that surprised.

Yeah, I'd decked out my avatar a bit haphazardly. She wasn't wearing Mystic colors or anything, but it was a bit of a disaster. She's now decked out good ol' Valor red.

*_* It looks like this update includes a fix for the Razzberry glitch, too! I'm so glad. Throwing curveballs when I wasn't intending to was driving me nuts.

They also smoothed out the gym animation so I'm not lagging awkwardly during gym battles. I would dodge, my 'mon wouldn't do anything, and then I'd get hit. I took over 2 gyms this morning & I was dodging beautifully. I was like, "Wait a minute! Is this how it's supposed to work?!"

I hope they do bring back tracking eventually. It was one of my favorite aspects of the game. Now we can't even single out one pokemon to look for.

I have a suspicion them taking the paw prints away is a sign that they'll be working on it next. The CEO came out & said that he didn't like tracking sites like PokeVision (I mean, they're technically against the ToS) and they're aware of the complaints about its lack, so hopefully it'll be returning in the near future.

Oh, I hope so! Maybe after they complete the rollout of the app (is it everywhere yet? I've been busy so haven't been able to keep up) and user numbers stabilize somewhat they may be able to bring it back, if not before...

I also didn't know pokevision was technically against their ToS! I used it mainly to see what was around my city where when I was at home and never in the field so I'm not too bummed it's gone.

It hasn't rolled out everywhere yet. I was thinking the same thing too -- once they have a better idea of final user numbers, we'll start seeing more consistent features.

All the tracking sites/apps seem to have died (which I am a-okay with, especially the ones which were apparently charging for information) so hopefully the tracker itself will come back soon. The 'where you caught this' map is gone, too, but that hadn't been working for a long time anyway.

The new medal art is super cute!

Also not only can you now recustomise the avatar, there are more options for clothing! Especially in the girl clothing range.

I was wondering about that! I thought there were options but I wasn't 100% sure since my initial customization was rather haphazard.

Yeah, I don't mind the tracking sites going down either. I know lots of hardcore players are mad about it but eh. They were against the ToS because they do hit the servers. As if the game needs more stress on the servers!

Apparently it's an easy fix client-side using the same data the maps use, so I don't know why they don't just fix it already :/

i was planning on picking valor when i picked out my avatar's clothes but ended up falling in love with mystic by the time i got to level 5, so this update is much appreciated lol

also the new medal art is much prettier than before, as are the pokemon profiles. although i'm finding it a bit redundant that there's a favourite selection in the pokemon profile menu, especially when there's already a star you can select at the top right to favourite that pokemon, but oh well

but the transfer button is less laggy now so. i guess i can't complain TOO much.
