A second Pokestop just appeared in my town! I cannot express how thrilling this is - I frequently run out of balls, the other Pokestop is in an awkward position in the middle of a park that's mostly made of mud in winter, and the next town is 50km away.

Even better, it's in the post office, right next to my workplace. Full bag, here I come!

I noticed ingress accepted some more portal submissions as well, so it looks like Niantic is reviewing locations. Hopefully to fill out less-well-served areas (even if it's aggravating that they junk perfectly good submissions in areas which already have a high density, that's for the best if they manage to accept new ones which are actually useful).

It's so exciting! Post offices seem to be something of a default location, so it makes sense that it's coming from ingress submissions.

How the heck did you get a new Pokestop? I've been wanting new Pokestops in my town for AGES.

When a new site is submitted and approved for Ingress, it also appears as a new pokestop on PokemonGO. That's the only confirmed method of getting new non-sponsored pokestops at this time. (The first documented instance that I know of was a father signing up to play Ingress solely to win a pokestop in their town for his child. His experiment paid off.)

Niantic reportedly now has a squad of high-level Ingress players evaluating site submissions, to help speed up the progress for both games.

I have no idea why we got a new stop, though I suspect it may be all the summer tourists - maybe some of them were Ingress players!

Ah! From the news it seems Ingress introduced some feature where established players could vote on new portals, without needing Naintic to employ people to process them. I don't know, I've not logged in for ages, but that's likely what unblocked the pipeline.

I don't know if new portals are automatically moved to pokemon pokestops (I think originally it was a one-time import, with future changes maybe or maybe not moved across), but if there's *any* new pokestops it seems likely that at least some of them are.

Has anyone else seen new pokestops since pokemon started?

I don't know if it's worth submitting ingress portals, but it might be.

(Now I feel very spoiled. There are multiple pokestops within walking distance of both my home and work. I'd been envying the people who don't even have to go outside to reach them... but at least all I have to do is take a stroll!)

I noticed that there's a new stop out by my parents' house, at a historical building that's a solid 10 miles in any direction from anything else of note, so I hope that's making some people's gaming easier.
