inkstone: small blue flowers resting on a wooden board (PokeGo)
[personal profile] inkstone posting in [community profile] pokestop
News was pretty light this week -- aside from numerous complaints from disgruntled PokeGo players -- so it's another combo post.

In terms of the game itself, here are some newsbits that might be of interest:

• Nests have migrated again.

• Pokémon no longer spawn if you're going over 30mph. While this is meant to deter playing while driving, it also inadvertantly penalizes people who play while riding as passengers or take public transportation. I believe you can still spin pokestops, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Aside from that...

How was your week in PokeGo?!

... That explains why my morning commute suddenly has blank patches in the middle of it where nothing comes up on radar. That's... irritating. I mean, okay, but irritating.

Ugh massive depressive downswing and anxiety uptick means I have done fuck-all for over a week.

I am reminding myself that this is fine, I can just pick up where I left off and nobody cares.

Ugh, says this non-driver. I get why, but ... ugh.

Yes, you can still spin pokestops above the cutoff speed, thank goodness. Assuming you can time it right while being whisked along, that is.

I grabbed two charmanders in about three minutes on my way home today, in a very much not fire-y area that didn't seem to have been an anything nest before. I'll have to head back for a wander in a couple days and see whether that was just a fluke.

I have a shoulder Pikachu.

I've been running out of balls a lot lately, and observing how when there are no balls, suddenly I'm extremely popular with the nearby wild pokemon. They flock to me. I bet the local Poke store pays them in candy to do that, to drum up business.

I spent over two weeks painstakingly earning pikachu candy with my shoulder buddy (not a fast process when you're reliant entirely on GPS drift!) and then literally five minutes after I evolved my Raichu, I hatched a pikachu egg with more than enough candy in it.

I caught a koffing! That's... about it, end of semester + weather being shittastic means I haven't got out much since last weekend. The no-more-driving-pokémon does explain why I didn't see anything much when I went to the hospital on Thursday, though. =/ Annoying! (I did get pokéstops, though!)

Super close to being done with uni for the year, plus I'm getting stronger pretty fast now, though, so will be doing a LOT more walking in coming weeks. >3

I did have a question, though! When you're just walking along normally, about how often do people tend to see pokémon? I feel like I don't see many, but I dunno if it's location or luck or just because I don't go very *far* even if it takes me a while.

Yes, you can still spin at speed, which - I've never had much luck seeing pokemon to try and catch from the tube anyway, so no big difference in my book.

This week I managed to catch two Magmars, (in a rare example of the tracker working - see shadow, keep walking, loose shadow, turn around, shadow comes back, take only available side road, Magmar! And another one!) and then promptly hatched one about 15 minutes later! I also hatched an Aerodactyl, and walked my Cubone enough to evolve a Marowak, so that's three new additions to my Pokedex!

I was promised that a certain park was a kabuto nest and when I went there this weekend, t here was nothing. I was all set to try an incense and see if it worked for me. (They never have before. The last two times I've used them I got two pokemon in the half hour they were active.)
