I walked over 6+ km today! This was from our house to the beach (one of the beaches, anyway) and back. There's a pier + kind of like a little overlook on the beach, two pokestops, and a gym! :D And the cafe beside one of the pokestops has it pretty much perpetually lured. So it's a great place to just sit, admire the ocean, and catch water-type pokemon!

I also did a lot of gym battling today. Took down a level 5 gym by my lonesome (I may be unreasonably impressed with myself as a way of self-soothing because that was SO MUCH TAPPING) and defended the beach gym from hordes of Instinct and Mystic players. Mwahaha!

All in all, a pretty good day, even though my most notable catch was a Squirtle :D

o/ Everyone here (or, well, everyone who does gym battling) seems to have a Snorlax too. And I haven't seen a single one! D: Thirding totally wanting one, hah!

Yesterday we walked a few kilometers to a park on the other side of town -- on a tip-off -- just to catch a Scyther (and succeeded). :D And then wandered around the big town centre park and caught a bunch of fairly common things. I also caught a rare and exciting Poliwrath that was CP 1418, which escaped from TWELVE ultra balls before it would stay in one *sob*.

I also hatched a Hitmonchan and two Pikachus in a row, so yesterday was a very, very good day for me. I am exhausted from all the walking today, though. :D

Okay, by going out at the crack of dawn, I caught my first Zubat. No luck with Eevees this morning, though. :p

Ahhh I'm so envious, I haven't even seen the silhouette of an Eevee yet! I know they are in my city because I see people share their catches on work Slack but I don't think they are in my neighborhood at all. D:

Maybe I should just get more active about hatching eggs.

Well, my Vaporeon is back from her day long adventure. She got lots of pets and a hyper potion for her valiant effort. If I wasn't saving up candies to evolve another Eevee, I'd level up her CP.

A slow week... Admittedly I played less than usual due to being sick. I haven't caught anything new lately so I have been focusing on evolving to gain exp.

They seem to be in my neighborhood from time to time! Which is nice. There's even a semi-local gym I hope to hit up one of these days; it appears to be guarded by a CP 1,000 Flareon on Team Valor (my team!) at the moment.

...I'm not even sure how to get eggs at the moment. *flails* I'll ask my daughter to look it up--she's really enthusiastic about getting into this game!

Team Valor For Life!

PokeStops drop eggs along with pokeballs, razz berries, etc. If you've been hitting up PokeStops, you should check to see if you have some already because you might. When you open up the list of pokemon in your bag, there should be a second tab that says eggs. That'll have a list of the eggs of you have. Make sure you put them into incubators. In fact, make sure your incubators always have an egg in them at all times. Prioritize putting 10km eggs into the blue incubators (which break after 3 uses) and 2km eggs into the gold one (which last forever). 5km can go into either. You'll get the most mileage out of your incubators this way.

Me too! I mean, they're a bit useless, even evolved. But so pretty!

Do you live in San Francisco? I went to the Embarcadero on my new Pokéfriend advice (met him at my work gym) and was racking up Magicarp like this:



That doesn't even capture all of them -- there's another row or so. And oh, yeah; that's about 1 hour's wandering, not more.

Also, SO many Psyducks and Staryus there! Also evolved those later.

Yeah, I recommend evolving Jolteons for those reasons (and also because I live in the East Bay, which is full of Water Pokémon). I have 3 Electabuzzes and 3 Jolteons, and there's gym battles where I use most of them.

Do we know what the system for pokéstops giving 10k is?

Well, at least the Glitch didn't getcha. I am pretty grumpy about the insane escape rate these days; I have caught big-time Pokémon only to have them escape.

They say it's random but I'm not sure how true that is. If there are weighted factors or some such. I got A LOT of 10km eggs in the beginning but then I went through a stretch where I got nothing but 5km.

After about 7 ultra balls I was too committed to not just KEEP TRYING. Miraculously it didn't run away.

It felt like the escape rate yesterday was a little less crazy than earlier in the week, but it's still very high and makes me sad on a regular basis.
