The Halloween Event is Live!

And surprise! We're seeing increased spawn rates for other ~spooky~ 'mon! The current list includes: gastly, haunter, gengar, zubat, golbat, drowzee, hypno, cubone, marowak & meowth!

(I can confirm because I caught a gastly while sitting in my bed and I still see one in sightings, along with cubone. Neither of them are common around me.)

In terms of buddy candy, you earn 1 per quarter of the regular walking distance! (So it's not 4 candy received at once. It's .25km, .75km & 1.25km!)

This is such a fun update! If you love Halloween as much as me, I hope you will enjoy it too!

ETA at 8:47PM EDT: OMG SHENANIGANS. Some of the pokemon are masked! I just caught a zubat and IT TURNED INTO A MAGIKARP. This might be a glitch but I don't think so because people are reporting it on The Silph Road subreddit. (Or maybe it's a glitch that multiple people are experiencing. Maybe it was a transition thing? Ngl, I'm a little disappointed!)

Cubones are so rare for me that all of the ones I have are hatched and omg yay I have a new Pokemon in my dex. And thanks for figuring out the buddy candy 'cause I was kinda confused.

I was confused at first too. I looked at my dratini & was wondering why suddenly it looked like I'd walked a lot farther than before!

I've caught 3 Gastley, 1 Haunter and 2 Meowth just sitting at my desk! :D I'm so pumped! Until tonight, ghost pokemon only showed up in one place in my town.

I caught several Cubone today, and I'm SUPER pleased about that, because they're pretty rare around here. It's nice to see the uptick in Meowth, too.

I've also caught a half-zillion Gastlies and Haunters (well, okay, more like 10) but considering how many candies it takes to evolve them, I'm cool with that. xD

Haven't run into any masked pokemon yet, though. That sounds super exciting. *_*

The masked pokemon might have been a glitch. It only happened once for me & that seems to be the case on TSR.

Caught my first Haunter and there's a Gengar hanging around!

I hadn't noticed an increase in meowths — if meowths were any more common here, they'd be pidgies — but cubones and drowzees are suddenly everywhere!

Fingers crossed for the ghost types. The 2 gastlies I have are egg-hatched...

...and as I was typing, a wild gastly appeared at my desk! Caught. :-)

TBH, I'm really glad that they decided to also include Cubone/Marowak and Meowth because my area is such that I pretty much catch multiple Drowzee a day, plus at least one Zubat and Gastly.

(I'm entirely at a loss to explain why my area is like this.)

The event seems to be timezone-based, I think? Because it started this morning for me, which I didn't think it would based on yesterday's info. I AM VERY OKAY WITH THIS oh man I caught a ghastly and a haunter and I didn't even leave the house today! :D :D :D :D :D (Both a first for me!)

Haven't caught any of the cubone line or mewoth yet, so hopefully they'll appear around here too! >: Will see what I can get tomorrow, yes~~
