Hi all! I'm a Bay Area professional by day, and...okay, also by day I am a Pokémon Trainer Level 23.

Where you at?

:)

I've downloaded the game but since then have been at sea, ergo level 0 (is that a thing?). Honestly, this is my first Pokemon experience, but I am getting excited reading about all of the fun this game seems to be.

Level 23, that is impressive, especially given the fact that you are clearly busy during the day.

I am level 9! I live in a town that has one pokestop, not close to me at all, so I'm progressing slowly. But every time I go out of town to one of the bigger cities, I end up going up a couple of levels that day, so it's very exciting. It's a bit feast/famine for me, and it's so disappointing when the servers are down on a day when I'm travelling, but I am enjoying the game.

[I started writing a comment to explain how to make the "at sea" screen go away in the game, and then realized that you meant you are literally on a ship in the sea. When I first started playing my avatar appeared to be in the sea and it took me a while to figure out how to fix that...]

You know me, but for others in the community, I'm a university biologist. I started playing the game because my husband, and our partners' 4yo, are really enthusiastic about it and I wanted to join in with them. So far I've made it to L10 due to my campus being rich in pokestops and helpful geeks who put lures on them all the time. I was a bit too old to be into Pokemon the first time round so it's all a complete surprise to me, I have little idea how the mythos works and don't know what to expect when I evolve my creatures.

I've made it to L20 mostly due to the fact that I spend 3 hours a day travelling to and from work on buses and there are a lot of Pokémon and Pokéstops on my route :)

I'm another one was a bit too old to be into Pokémon the first time around but younger friends were so excited about it that I thought I'd give it a go. And now I'm hooked! I'm really enjoying finding all the creatures and seeing what they evolve into.

I'm at level 9, playing in Fort McMurray/northern Alberta.

I started playing as soon as it rolled out in Canada, but the going has been pretty slow. This is partly because it's a 40 minute walk to the nearest pokestop. But it's also because I was initially making an attempt at playing it on an ipod touch, which is hilariously difficult for a whole bunch of reasons (when I have a moment, I'm going to make a post about that). So, it took me aaages to catch things and level up.

Right now, I'm playing from a borrowed phone, and it's making things so much easier.

<3 I'll catch up soon enough~

I've been playing since it was released in the US, and I'm level 19 as of my walk into my office this morning. ^_^

I work in IT support at a small university in Kansas, and our campus has three gyms, and around 30 pokéstops. When it's not so brutally hot, it's a great place to play.

I'm level 14; I played for exactly a week in my city (northeast US) before temporarily relocating to a rural place with seemingly nothing where I haven't played at all. But I'll be back in the city next week :)

I don't tend to do much at gyms, since it seems like they're all either in annoying locations or else so insanely crowded and competitive that I don't even want to try.

I'm level 10, playing in Cbus, Ohio. :)

My leveling has been hampered by the fact that I live on the outskirts of town, so there's not a lot of pokestops. Also, there's the big fact that I'm disabled and can't walk very far at all. :/ The only reason I hatched 2 eggs is because my roommates drive me to appointments and such and I usually have PokemonGo running while they drive. I only get credit for "walking" when they're accelerating or decelerating, but it eventually hatches eggs, so... -shrug-

Level 20, with a wife who is level 22 (she started playing a few days before me). We live on the outskirts of a large town in the UK, and we run our own online retail company and commute to our warehouse elsewhere in the town suburbs. We hit the town-centre pokestops and go hunting before and after work, can usually spin a few more pokestops from the bus, and very occasionally go out for evening roams to catch more pokemon. My wife has never played any Pokemon game before and it's very cute watching her get enthused about them.

We went to London on the weekend and caught us some pokemon that aren't common locally; we will be in London again this weekend and can do that again!

Hailing from the suburbs outside Washington D.C. I'm a freelance writer so I work from home, which makes it a bit tricky to keep stocked on pokeballs. I've taken to walking in the early mornings before it gets too hot to get a decent number for the day. Despite my location and the fact that I started playing PokeGo several days after its US release, I've somehow managed to reach level 19. Where there's a will, there's a way.

I'm going to a picnic by the lake this weekend so I'm hoping to do some magikarp hunting. I'm swimming in bulbasaurs and exeggutes but the road to the sea dragon is long and hard.

Right now I'm at level 18. I would be at a higher level probably if the heat and the humidity didn't keep me in.

Edit: Also located in South Central PA where I am luckily in a city with some form of a bus system. There is a Pokestop right across the street for me so it's great for lures in the heat.

I'm at Level 13 right now (almost 14). I really should be higher, considering there are literally over a dozen PokéStops within a 2-3 minute walk from where I work (not to mention multiple gyms). With the heatwave that's been hitting the DC area lately, though, leaving my nice air-conditioned office during lunch just hasn't been happening.

Level 18, in Seattle. Seattle is a pretty nice place to catch pokemon since our summer weather is great. But I still either have to walk a couple miles or take a minimum 40 minute bus ride to another area to get to any really good pokemon catching areas. I'm moving soon to a better area though. Also have to put up with the agony of being unable to take the bus to the best park with the charmander nest or the one that gets like 10 lures going constantly.

Also there are no sandshrew here at all, which sucks because I like them. I only have one from an egg, but even scouring the map on pokevision, they just don't exist in Seattle.

I'm in Nova Scotia and at level 7, accomplished entirely while busing to and from work and being along for a few short drives. I haven't been to a gym at all yet (well, technically I have--the other night I was out at dinner and there was a gym nearby that let me pick my team, but then informed me I was out of range when I tried to investigate further).

It's been somewhat ridiculous, yeah. :-/

I can't wait for the humidity to go away and the temperature to drop some. My full-time job is close enough to where I live that I can walk there in a reasonable amount of time when the weather is nice, and I really want to start being able to do that again.

Tell me about it. There's an outdoor mall a couple of miles from me with easily a dozen PokeStops and two gyms that I hit after work on Monday, and basically melted by the time I got home; the significantly larger indoor mall across the street had only five stops and no gyms when I went back the next day. Damn you, I want my air conditioning!

Level 13, Silicon Valley. There's a municipal complex about a mile from my house (City Hall, Chamber of Commerce, and a museum) with about a dozen PokeStops, most of which are lured well into the night, and two gyms. I've won the occasional battle, but the bulk of my interaction has been to find something affiliated, throw my best creature into it if there's an open slot, and grab the coins right away before I get tossed again. ;-)

There's a Team Mystic meet-up at Central Park in Santa Clara this Saturday; I'm just hoping the weather doesn't abuse us all mercilessly.

Only level 2. Basically any time I try to execute an action in this game, the app crashes on me. Between crashes, I've managed to catch two Pokemon :[

I did try un-installing and then re-installing the app, but so far that hasn't helped. [I assume it's because my phone, a 4S, is "too old?"]

It's a shame, because my neighborhood appears to be a great place for gyms and wild Pokemon.
Mostly, I live vicariously through others, by reading people's tweets and tumblr posts, ^^;;

Level 6 - I work at a park and my nature center is a PokeStop, downloaded and started playing so I could be in tune with what the kids and visitors were up to, so totally work related! ^_~ We're in our super busy season and understaffed right now, so haven't had much time to play, but it's fun to take a quick Pokemon break if there's a moment or two of down time. And I have all these eggs and no time to hike to hatch them!!

Level 19 at the moment, hoping to hit Level 20 tonight or tomorrow, if all goes well.

I'm in a wee rural hamlet way up in the upper left corner of California. There are exactly five Pokestops in town, and it's about a two mile walk to hit them all. Not exactly rich hunting. But there's a town ten minutes up the road that has a park with lots of Pokestops, including an awesome spot where you can sit in your car or on the grass and be in reach of four at once. Put lures on all four at the same time, and you never go more than maybe 30 seconds without something popping up on your screen. Two sessions there have helped me level up faster, and the park itself is big enough to make for good walking to hatch eggs.

I need to make some trips to different kinds of places, though, because I'm not getting enough variety in types. Our local Little Big City is only 20 minutes up the highway, and I'm going to give that a shot tomorrow, I think. There's a vast wealth of public art all over the place -- this being NorCal and all -- and I can also try some light industrial areas and maybe a power station.
