Well, IVs are important but they're not as important as CPs at this point in the game. Once you reach level 30, then you probably want to start thinking seriously about IVs. CP of pokemon caught in the wild stops scaling at level 30.

Yeah, CP of hatched pokemon stop scaling at 20 and wild pokemon at 30. But you can still power up your pokemon past level 30 with candy and stardust, up until you reach your trainer cap at level 40.

Ahhh, that explains a lot. I'd been disappointed that my recent hatches didn't seem to be all that impressive in CP. Now I know why. Thanks.
