I caught my first Growlithe today! And have been catching Pokemon with higher CPs now like a Tauros with over 1000 CP. Also earlier this week was my first Dratini.
Saw an Ekans on the radar while in the river side park, but after hitting it's North, South and East boundaries, concluded it probably spawned on the island in the middle of the river. Or was in the river itself. IDK, but I was disappointed as I want the snek Pokemon.
I'm not particularly focused on IVs at the moment, which I'll probably regret if I do get into battling heavily, though apparently all my Weedle evolution line Pokemon have bad IVs.
I'm crossing my fingers for cooler temperatures sooner rather than later so I can explore more places without risk of making myself sick, which I suspect I did last week.
Well, IVs are important but they're not as important as CPs at this point in the game. Once you reach level 30, then you probably want to start thinking seriously about IVs. CP of pokemon caught in the wild stops scaling at level 30.
Yeah, CP of hatched pokemon stop scaling at 20 and wild pokemon at 30. But you can still power up your pokemon past level 30 with candy and stardust, up until you reach your trainer cap at level 40.

Huh. I did not know that. Thank you! That will help me with decisions on what and when to evolve.
