Trainer Battles + Sinnoh Stone rates

So I noticed this:

If I battle a gym leader one a day regularly, I'll get stardust that first battle.

I didn't battle a gym leader for a couple of days, and when I finally got around to it, I got a Sinnoh stone.

Curious, I battled again the next day, and the next, three days in a row, stardust three days in a row.

Gave it a rest for a day, battled, and then got another Sinnoh stone.

Anybody else see this too?

I've also battled a couple of friends, and even in battles where I win, they'll get Sinnoh stones. One friend lost twice in a row, and got two Sinnoh stones both times she lost.

I have to admit I haven't battled with enough of a range of players regularly enough to get a solid sense - i do think the battle looser is more likely to get a stone, though!

I've never gotten anything from the team leaders but stardust - on the other hand the one time I've battled a human, I won, and got a rare candy. (I *wanted* the Sinnoh Stone but I will never turn down rare candy...)

Not to be a spoilsport, but I'm pretty sure all of this is just coincidence. The biggest data sets from multiple players have ended up showing that you get stardust about 75% of the time (from the first three trainer battles and first leader battle per day) and another prize the remaining 25% - which used to always be a Sinnoh stone but as of recently has equal chance of being a Sinnoh or Rare Candy. There's also a small chance (I think like 8%?) to get two rewards instead of one, though they can both be dust.

The only thing that *does* change rewards is the tier you do your daily leader battle on, which makes the stardust reward 300, 400, or 500. Trainer battles are always 500 regardless of League.
