Latest update

It looks like an update landed for the Pokémon Go Android app last night; I'm now at 0.41.4. No idea if/when these changes are coming to iOS. Changes I've spotted already:

  • Eggs now only list integer distances rather than decimals
  • The badge page has had a significant redesign, with every badge getting a unique icon and numbers seeming to have been removed entirely
  • When catching a Pokémon, some icons flash up at the top of the screen briefly, which I think indicate the type of the Pokémon or of its moves, but I haven't been able to work that out yet

Edit: Other changes apparently in this release that I haven't yet seen for myself:

  • Egg screens periodically update without needing to exit and reload the page
  • Evolution animations are shorter to save time
  • Pokémon get easier to catch if you have a higher tier badge of their type
  • You can now have six Pokémon battling at a friendly gym, and CP of Pokémon you're battling might be adjusted to match your Pokémon.
  • Possibly something changing again about how rooted devices are detected

ALAS integer eggs (is there still the indicator bar at finer granularity? has the distance you've walked with your buddy also ended up integer-only rather than 2sf?) and also not getting badge numbers; thank you for the info <3

I have 0.41.4, and I still have decimal egg tracking, at least for <1km. I will report back when I cross 1km. Buddy distance is 2.4/3km right now.

Update, as promised: I still have decimals in my egg tracking at >1km.

If you click on incubating eggs, you still see up to the hundredths decimal place.

I thought, "ah, it's the type". I've only caught some common pokemon, but it did seem to be rat = empty ring, spearow = empty ring, wing. paras = two (that might be poison, bug, it was hard to see).

But I think those most likely have a move from each type too, so I can't actually tell which is true yet.

OK, I caught a caterpie and some weedles with normal moves and I've fairly sure they didn't show a "normal" symbol when I caught them.

The badges are definitely pokemon type.

Badges are now weird. You have to select the badge and then select the level you are working on at the moment (not the level you had earned) to see how far your progress is on that badge in a numerical sense.

It's a redesign that I'm not very pleased with because I like being able to evaluate at one glance and compare with other progress on the badges, but it is nice to see what future levels are and what previous ones /are/.

The flashing at the top of the screen are the type plus indicating the level badge you have for that type. I guess to give you more information on your ability to catch it or something. We need coders to look at exactly what the badge increases. Catch rate? Appearance rate?

It increases catch rate. What people aren't sure about what that increase entails. Is it a percentage boost? Is it a fixed bonus? Does it happen all the time? (I include the last question because I'm not sure the capture bonus applies to all pokemon based on some behavior I've seen. Hopefully, someone will figure it out.)

Thanks for posting this! I'm including a link in the news round-up that has screencaps of the changes, so hopefully that'll make things easy to visualize for people who haven't seen them yet. :D
