New update!!!

The battery saver's back and apparently they've fixed the capture bug? Also, new tracking window! I am not going to be able to get outside to try it out until tomorrow, but looks interesting...

I can confirm that it's now giving out XP for Great throws again :) There's a shiny new grassy graphic behind each Pokémon when you open the tracking window but I've no idea if it means anything.

It also brings up a warning message if you're travelling over a certain speed telling you not to play and drive and asking you to confirm that you're a passenger. Since I mostly play on the long bus commute to and from work I think I'm going to be seeing that message a lot...

Thanks for posting this! I got taken down by a migraine last night & couldn't do much of anything despite having noticed that my phone updated the app!

Here's the full rundown:

  • Battery saver is back.

  • Not only are the throw accuracy bonuses back, reports are saying they now stack on top of the curveball bonus as well.

  • You can now rename your trainer, but you can only do this one time so use it wisely!

  • The tracker has been modified to "Sightings" with new animation. This is apparently the first phase of the new version of the tracker because...

  • A subset of users have been included in a beta test for the new tracker, which looks like this.

I went for my morning pokewalk and these are some observations:

  • I'm not part of the beta test but I can tell you that the new tracker is pretty accurate. Pokémon appear and disappear from the tracker smoothly. You don't have phantom pokémon that linger around unless you close and restart the app. While it's not the pawprint system from the original tracker, pokémon will appear and disappear from the tracking list if you're on the boundaries of the range, so you will at least have a general idea if you're going in the right direction.

  • While the accuracy bonuses have returned, I'm not sure if the escape rate has been fixed. I had a 200CP pidgey escape from an ultra ball (it was an accident; I didn't mean to throw one of those LOL) that received a "Great!" so I don't know. I am level 21, though, so maybe this is my new reality. (Nooooo!)

Oh! And your trainer's journal now includes pokémon that were hatched!

AHH thanks for the notice! *_* I'm looking forward to updating and playing around with it tonight.

It's nice that some things like the throw bonuses have been fixed. I've never used the tracker, since it's always been broken for me, but maybe I should experiment with it....

I really wish there were a way to ignore the update and play for at least one session or something. I'd been at a bar last night & looking forward to playing PokeGo on my walk home, & couldn't, because it forced the update in order to play! :(

I had false hopes that the update would immediately solve my crashing issues, but no dice. That said, it's still crashing much less frequently than it did while it still had access to my camera, so I've progressed to level 8, :D

Oh good! And I love the new "no driving...are you a passenger" pop-up
