The new PokeGo update (with the brand new buddy system!) is rolling out. Hopefully, everyone will have it within the next day or two. :D

Has everyone seen Poké Assistant's helpful resource for picking your buddy? They have a sortable table of how many kilometers each pokémon must walk with you to earn a buddy reward, including a "kilometers to evolve" column.

No update here yet... I wonder whether actively checking the Play Store helps or hurts. :-)

I love that my reaction to that table was definitely "only 200km to evolve this ivysaur? Sounds good." Nevermind that that's like 90% of my lifetime distance with the app, it's still way faster than I'm going to find that many more bulbasaurs.


Also, squirtle. Also other things, natch. But mainly bulbasaur. Argh.

:) Also, at least, I feel like if I'm going somewhere I'm achieving *something* whereas if I'm just wandering about hoping another bulbasaur happens by, I often feel like I'm not getting anywhere.

Oh cool, that's really helpful.

I hadn't realise it would work for evolves too, but of course, if it gives candy, it would be as useful like that. I'll need to jog VERY FAR to finish off my dragonite, but I do have SOME dratinis already, every km travelled will reduce the number i need.

Based on reports, that list is actually wrong. They made the assumption that the numbers they saw in the datamine were the actual kilometers needed and the not variables used by Niantic in the code.

This list has updated at least once since I first saw it; I imagine that there will be a rush of initial research/documentation as soon as people have the update.

Neither do I, sigh. There's a thread on the Silph Road subreddit of people sighing over not having the update LOL.
